What's the job
The key purpose of this role is to take an active part in ensuring the company’s accounts payable records are processed timely and accurately. We currently have a team of three working on our purchase ledger and duties are split between them.
The successful applicant must have a natural ability with, and feel comfortable in, handling numbers. This individual should be self motivated, able to show initiative and take pleasure in doing their work quickly, accurately and in a timely manner. Being able to act responsibly and work confidentially are essential requirements for this role and the successful applicant will need to be able to work effectively both independently and in a team.
Your tasks will look like this:
- Matching, checking, processing and coding invoices into our accounting systems – Open Accounts and AX.
- Reconciliation of supplier statements.
- Setting up new supplier accounts and maintaining existing account details.
- Reconciliation of Fuel receipts and other employee expenses.
- Chase up and record employees private milage claims ensuring that up to date HMRC records are used. Timely notifications to affected employees of any rate changes.
- Monitoring of company utility spending and liaising with utility companies to resolve problems.
- Liaising with various departments in the organisation to ensure resolution of supplier queries.
- Being first point of contact for all relevant supplier enquiries.
- Maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
- Solving invoice queries.
- Assisting with other general accounting duties including reporting.
- Filing and archiving of all documentation.
You will demonstrate the following attributes:
- Preferred experience in a similar purchase ledger role but not essential.
- Be able to work in a fast paced environment.
- Have excellent communication and organisation skills.
- Be experienced with query resolution.
- Be computer literate in Microsoft packages.
- Have outstanding attention to detail.
- Good team working skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Numerate/competent arithmetically.
Your working days and hours:
We have a 39 hour week (40 weeks in the summer, 38 in the winter) with no weekend work. Our hours are from 8:30am – 5pm with 30 minute lunch.

We are based in the lovely area of Altrincham, in a modern office with free parking and in walking distance of local shops.
