In this brand new growth team, you will play an essential role in identifying, engaging and converting new business opportunities.
Our model sees business development and account management owned by distinct teams. We have an experienced and knowledgeable team charged with retaining our existing accounts. This Business Development Manager role is focused on growing profitable revenue.
You will be reporting directly into the Business Development Director and the position will cover the North and Midlands areas.
Now lets take a look at your job specification.
You will be a highly experienced, successful salesperson, able to build and maintain solid relationships with the right people (often ‘C’ level in school / MAT settings) through long sales cycles, determine their needs and how they fit in with our proposition, whilst collaborating with colleagues around the business including an internal Marketing team, to create a compelling pitch.

You will build and maintain your own pipeline using an up-to-date CRM and other systems as required. Adding your objective and well-informed qualitative insights, you will guide the business on current market conditions, winning campaigns and collateral. You will be the key player in bids and tenders with brilliant internal support and represent the business superbly at relevant forums and exhibitions.
You will also support the Business Development Director in the establishment of new revenue streams through the use of frameworks and creating new commercial partnerships.
Your key deliverables will be:
- Profitable growth within existing customer base, primarily through maximising own brand label sales. This role will not have any involvement with existing schools.
- New account acquisitions within defined target parameters (geographic and otherwise).
- Strategic engagement of Multi Academy Trusts.
- Maximising profit through new revenue channels.
Your key attributes will be:
- A highly professional, proficient sales person.
- Self-driven to build and maintain product & industry knowledge.
- A strong, successful negotiator.
- A commercial thinker, financially literate and successful in balancing customer needs with profit targets.
- Analytical with the drive and ability to identify, interrogate and interpret data for high quality decision making.
- Self-managing; able to appropriately prioritise and manage your time to achieve positive outcomes.
Your required experience will include:
- New business development ideally in an education environment, including in-depth involvement in bids and tenders.
- Developing and executing strategies to acquire customer accounts through being proactive and collaborating brilliantly.
- Identifying and establishing new revenue streams.
- 5+ years in sales.
- Demonstration of new business history.

Working hours
You will be working remotely, Monday to Friday with no weekend work.

Your day-to-day role requires independent working. You will have no direct reports but you will be part of a wider team who are ambitious and driven. You will be invited to regional and national meetings where you will have the opportunity to network and build relationships with your peers.
